A Look at The Auditor General Report That Threw Waititu to the Dogs

Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu is again at the center of attention in Kenya. Well, this time round, he did not engage the police in running battles or asked that rivers be moved, he is at the center of a mega corruption scandal that has rocked Kiambu County.

Auditor-General Edward Ouko revealed that Kiambu County government purportedly spent almost a billion on State House affairs in a single financial year.

The county allocated Sh973 million for “Coordination of State House functions”. Governor Ferdinand Waititu appearing before the Senate Public Accounts Committee claimed he was no aware of such expenditure.

More shocking expenditures were revealed. Kiambu allegedly spent Sh804 million on free primary education which is a function of national government and Sh58 million on South Sudan Peace process.

The Waititu government also claims they spent Sh180 million as statutory benefits for retired Presidents Daniel arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki. They also claim that Sh591 million was spent on State Corporation advisory service.

Waititu had a rough time when he presented himself to the Senate for grilling over alleged misuse of Public Funds.

The Governor could not explain how his Government had budgets for expenditures meant for the National Government.

The Governor said that he was also surprised to see that his county spent those huge figures
