Smooth FM radio presenter Brenda Obath has narrated a painful rape ordeal she underwent when she was just 13.

The presenter who hosts Smooth FM’s mid-morning show, revealed for the first time how she was raped at a party she was invited to, by her friend, over the school holiday.

“The post went up because of the latest wave of the ‘Me Too Movement’. A lot of people I know were sharing their stories online, while others didn’t want to, yet we had a similar story, so I figured, why not?” Brenda said

“It is a fairly old story, so it was easier to tell, at least for me because I know it is different for everyone. It happened almost two decades ago,” she opened up.

“We got there and yes, there was alcohol involved, but there is so much you can drink at that age. So the girls we were with left, and it was just my ‘friend’ who brought us to the party and me, as she was to sleep over,” Brenda continued.

Brenda revealed that she suspects that her β€˜friend’ spiked her drink because she felt dizzy immediately after taking a drink that her friend handed to her.

Immediately She decided to go to the washrooms or someplace where she could lay, but her β€˜friend’ escorted her to a bedroom in the house.

Brenda also revealed that she felt someone undress her but she was too weak to fight back, scream or even move.

“He goes on to rape me. Then another man comes in and this happens about five times because there were six guys involved. At that point is when I realised there is little I could do, so I just waited till they were done,” a Brenda recalled painfully.

“I heard my ‘friend’ argue with one of the guys, saying “you didn’t tell me she was a virgin”, and he was upset about it. My friends came in, got me dressed and we went home,” she added.

Brenda stated that she visited an HIV testing clinic the following day where she was given Post-exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) medication and she felt lucky that she was never infected from the horrible experience.
