Bodyguard of senior Kenyan politician in trouble for losing gun carelessly

A bodyguard of Bomet senator Christopher Lang’at is in trouble for losing a gun during a robbery in Nairobi.

Mr Peter Sigey is said to have lost his gun following a robbery incident that took place at Pipeline-Ransami area, in Embakasi on Monday evening.

He was arrested after reporting about the robbery at Embakasi police station,  but only said that he had lost Sh10,000. He made no mention of losing his firearm.

He was summoned after his superiors got wind that he had also lost his Ceska firearm of serial number B021194 which had 12 rounds of ammunition.

“He did not mention of loss of firearm until he was summoned by his seniors at the camp when they got wind that the officer had lost a firearm,” read a report filed at the Lang’ata police station.

Investigations into the matter is ongoing.

Elsewhere, police are investigating a bizarre case where a KDF opened fire on his family killing three before committing suicide.

The officer from a recruit training group in Uasin Gishu is repoted to have spoken about a lady who was now getting married to someone else despite having dated him for a while.

Police hurriedly moved to Jua Kali area and collected the bodies of the three from the scene of the crime to City Mortuary.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the reasons behind the heinous crimes that led to the deaths of the four.

Confirming the incident, Eldoret West police boss Zachariah Bitok said security officers have launched investigations into the incident.

According to Bittok, the soldier moved from his homestead, which is three kilometres away from where he committed the crime, armed with the gun.
