It is a far cry from the first half of Arsenal’s season, which saw them go on a 22-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

This ended in mid-December with a 3-2 loss to Southampton.

One star missing from that game was Holding, who picked up a knee injury against Manchester United.

The defender played almost every game of the unbeaten run but has been out for the rest of the season.

And footage has emerged of the 23-year-old making good progress.

In the clip, Holding can be pulling some heavy weights on a machine.

The Gunners star pulls on a wire before pushing it away with his shoulders.

He then does some bench press exercises with two large boxes.

The defender then shows off his upper body strength with some pull-ups.

And Holding wears a weighted vest to make it harder.

The intensity picks up with some weighted punches as the training comes to an end.

This footage was shared on the club’s official Instagram channel, where it has been viewed more than 200,000 times.

And the Gunners faithful made it clear they wanted the 23-year-old back soon.

“You don’t know what you have until it’s gone,” one supporter said.

“Come back soon Holding.”

“Please hurry. [Shkodran] Mustafi is writing our entire season off single-handedly”

Another commented: “We need him back ASAP. He’s the reason for the 22-game unbeaten streak.”

While a third suggested who the defender should replace.

“Please hurry. Mustafi is writing our entire season off single-handedly,” they said.

The German has been criticised heavily by fans for his defensive performances recently.

And a fourth added: “I’d take a one-legged Holding over Mustafi.”

This comes as one pundit revealed why the Gunners do not have “great players”.
