Currently, to control the media, radio stations have been barred from hosting members of the opposition party including Dr. Kizza Besigye recently arrested during a radio interview.

Station managers have been warned by the authorities not to host FDC party leaders on the various talk shows, a Ugandan daily has revealed.

The opposition party, Force for Democratic Change in Uganda, has been challenging Museveni’s administration alongside Bobi wine’s camp, both criticizing Museveni’s rule as ‘dictatorial one’.

The current leader of the FDC party, Patrick Oboi Amuriat, regretted the decision of security forces of intimidating radio owners not to host the former FDC leader, Kizza Besigye.

The ban was revealed after stations in Lira District in northern Uganda refused to host leaders from the opposition ahead of their planned meetings over the weekend.

Mr.Okello mentioned: “They (authorities) did not make any formal communication to the radio stations but there have been a lot of threats from the security that no radio station should host Dr. Besigye.”

Patrick Oboi Amuriat said that their planned public rally was also stopped by security officials.

“This violates the right of Ugandans to access to information. I can surely say it is a deprivation of income to the radio stations that pay taxes and have to maintain their equipment and pay staff members,” he said.
