Ruto dealt another blow as Uhuru fires his close associate!

President Uhuru Kenyatta seems to be keen on his promise to deal with all corrupt cartels in a move to leave behind a good legacy.

Just hours after jetting back to the country from China, today, the hammer has fell on NCPB boss Albin Sang, a close associate of DP Ruto who has been taking direct orders from the DP regarding maize tenders and payments across the country.

In a directive to Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuiri, the head of state terminated Sang’s employment stating the various corruption allegations and massive theft of funds meant for farmers that has dogged NCPB.

Sang has been replaced by Zackary Magara who has been serving as the Deputy Director of Agriculture.Sang took over the position of MD in May 2018 after Newton Terer resigned following the NCPB scandal over the sale of maize to unscrupulous traders and has been at the helm of NCPB for almost a year.

NCPB has been a center of major scandals, with the most notable one being last year when the country’s top grain reserve lost approximately 1.9B shillings to unscrupulous maize tenders.

In August last year, audit findings submitted to the Public Accounts Committee showed that  traders supplied no maize to the silos despite documents from the board showing that they did so.

The report also showed  that the tenderpreneurs earned at least Sh1.4 billion which was initially allocated as payment to maize farmers around the Rift region.
