This year’s transfer summer is going to be one of the busiest in recent years with many players set to be sold and bought.
Most of these players are ‘big fish’ and it is always very interesting to know which clubs they are headed to or coming from.
Basically, transfer season always fill the voids that a particular club has suffered during the just concluded season.
For that reason, Liverpool has one and only chance to sign Lille winger Nicolas Pepe. Although many clubs are up in arms for him, reports state that Liverpool are the favourite.
Pepe has been a good play-maker and has assisted his team to finish second in the Ligue One.
The 23-year-old has scored 19 league goals and provided 11 assists. He is not a one season wonder either, having hit the back of the net 14 times in all competitions last campaign for Lille.
Any doubts over his ability to perform on the big stage were surely brushed aside by his virtuoso performance against PSG on Sunday 14, which led Mbappe to lament that his side had been made to look like “beginners”.
A mix of Nicolas Pepe, Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane in the squad, Liverpool will be the best-attacking team in the Premier League.
It remains to be seen, though, if Liverpool would stump up £60m for a winger who would not be guaranteed a place in the front three.
