We have just received this letter from the Uganda Police Force stopping all our scheduled music shows - including the one scheduled for tomorrow at One Love Beach, Busabala. They have been playing ping-pong games for over a month since we wrote to them. Three days ago, they wrote back to us giving us a litany of requirements. We invested huge sums of money to meet their demands, some of which were unreasonable. This was in addition to what we have invested in advertising and preparing the show. I think they thought we would fail to meet them. When we did and submitted them, the responsible officers started hiding themselves from us! Last night, they intercepted the trucks which were carrying the machines for the show. Today, this is the letter they gave to us- no show. Please remember, all other artistes are not required to fulfill any of these requirements and their shows have not been stopped. This brings the total number of our blocked concerts across the country to 124 since October, 2017. We shall not sit and watch as our rights continue to be violated. WE SHALL RESIST THIS IMPUNITY.

He was placed under house arrest and even had to celebrate son’s birthday without a ‘decent’ cake.

On Thursday, he sneaked out of his heavily guarded house to attend a burial ceremony of an elder.

His new song is called Afande. It advocates for caution in armed forces over violation of human rights.

He advises the police not to use force when administering law and order because they are human too.

On this your 9th birthday son, we wish you wisdom, a long healthy life and peace that superceeds human understanding. Iam glad I managed to deliver your cake. You said " I didnt think you would make it" I smiled in response because I actually almost didn't make it past our gate. Your father was not able to come to school to cut that cake with you and your friends as you asked because you know the people who almost refused you to go to school in the morning did not allow him to leave the compound today. I mean, those people checked my car on my way out to bring your cake and I hoped they'd not stop me from coming. When you are older and can use Instagram on your own son, You will read this message. Iam keeping it here for you to access when you are able to and I hope you then will understand why we couldn't celebrate your birthday in a place of your choice as family together with your classmates. We love you Shadrack and we are thankful for your existence in our lives. Happy birthday Our Mbogo.
