Ugandan musician-cum-politician has reportedly escaped from his house where he has been heavily guarded by the police.
Bobi Wine was arrested at the wake of Easter Monday and blocked from having a concert.
The government deployed thousands of uniformed men with guns around his residence in Magere, Kyadondo East, Wakiso District.
The Kyandondo East lawmaker has been facing a rough time in his political career since 2017 when he won the Member of Parliament.
From being tortured last year to the extent of seeking medication abroad to being held under house arrest, it is proof that he is a force to reckon in Uganda’s national politics.
He has been serving house arrest and was barred from performing after planning a demonstration.
He has not been allowed to leave his premises despite several attempts of trying to understand why he is not allowed the freedom to roam like any other Ugandan citizen.
Police claimed that after his arrest, Bobi called for a presser at which he revealed his intentions to hold a demonstration in the city on Tuesday and hence they were preventing him from going ahead with his plans.
On Wednesday, he was forced to celebrate his son’s birthday under house arrest and his wife was agitated that she could not even fin a ‘good’ cake for their son.
With that said, according to blogger Ashburg Kato, despite the heavy security deployment, the Kyarenga singer managed to find his way out.
Sources said that a house search has been done since morning but he could not be seen.
However, Police has not yet issued a formal notice about Bobi Wine’s escape.
But where could he be?
Well, Bobi Wine was attending a burial ceremony of an elder.
I had to find a way of attending the burial of our patriotic elder Haji Siraji Samanya Lyavaala in Bugiri
No matter how much the regime tries to keep us apart, we shall always find a way of coming together.
He even made a speech that moved many people chanting People power.
