This’s what YOU must Do to achieve Zero Malaria – WHO

After more than a decade of steady advances in fighting malaria, progress has leveled off.

World Health Organization, WHO’s latest World malaria report, indicates that no significant gains were made in reducing malaria cases in the period 2015 to 2017.

Urgent action by people adversely affected by malaria is the only solution to fight the disease.

Ownership of the challenge lies in the hands of countries most affected by malaria.

On World Malaria Day 2019, WHO advocates for a grassroots campaign that aims to keep malaria high on the political agenda, mobilizing additional resources, and empowering communities to take ownership of malaria prevention and care.

The Kenya Red Cross also marks the day by taking the initiative in training and equipping Community Health Volunteers to test and treat Malaria at community level thereby ensuring these services are easily available.

The Ministry of Health through the official twitter handle also announced that it will launch the Kenya National Malaria strategy for 2019/20.

This will be in line with the plans to zero-rate malaria.
