There is no doubt that President Uhuru Kenyatta owes his gliterring political career to former President Daniel Totorich Arap Moi.
Moi basically picked up Uhuru, dusted him, clothed him and showed him how to grab the reigns of power.
With Moi still in Kenya’s political circles, questions have arisen as to whether Uhuru can go against Moi and who between Ruto and Moi Uhuru can listen to or try to please.
Moi is not comfortable with a William Ruto Presidency. He is also focused on seeing his son Gideon Moi lead the Country at one point in time.
It is Moi that shaped Uhuru’s Political destiny that made him President is Moi not Ruto. Moi got him from private business, nominated him and made him a powerful minister. He later made him KANU Presidential candidate that nearly made him president in 2002. Even if he lost in 2002,Moi had prepared a road for him 10 years later.
It will be remembered that during the burial of former Cabinet Minister Njenga Karume, Moi caused quite a stir in the country and further added impetus to the Kibaki Succession debate following his remarks at the burial that were interpreted to mean an endorsement of Uhuru Kenyatta for the presidency.
Come 2012, Ruto was bought to support Uhuru Kenyatta and was paid in full. He accepted and dropped his presidential ambition to support Uhuru Kenyatta. He was promised a position of Deputy President. If he refused this offer ,Musalia Mudavadi or someone else would have been approached. Uhuru’s Presidency was pre-determined and what was needed was a voting bloc to cover up. In brief Uhuru made Ruto a deputy president. Ruto DID NOT make Uhuru the President. The system did. If you are holding to that arrangement that Uhuru was to go for 10 years and Ruto for 10 years please forget. That was politics.
This therefore brings in the question: Will Uhuru Endorse a Ruto Presidency come 2022?
Recent indicators seem to suggest otherwise with Uhuru’s new found friendship with Raila even fuelling talks on a Uhuru-Betrayal come 2022.
