ODM’s Party leader and Opposition Chief Raila Odinga has been a long time fierce critic of the Rulling party Jubilee especially after he claimed that his two election victories were stolen by Jubilee in 2013 and 2017 elections.

Raila went ahead to nickname UhuRuto ‘Vivaranga vya Computer’ (Computer generated leaders) He accused them of being incompetent, over borrowing loans from China and even vowed to fight their corrupt government to the last man.

However, after the famous 2018 March handshake, a lot has changed. The once vocal Raila has suddenly kept low while embracing and commenting his ‘Brother’ Uhuru Kenyatta in every move he takes.

On Tuesday, Hon Raila Odinga left the country for China to attend the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation to be held between 25th and 27th April 2019.

Mr. Odinga, who is the High Representative for Infrastructure Development for the African Union, will be seeking to put the case for the promotion of practical international cooperation in the areas of roads, railways, ports, maritime and inland water transport, aviation, energy, fiber optics and information and communication technology.

And as Raila prepared to leave the country for China, he once again hailed his newly found friend Uhuru Kenyatta as the right leader ordained by God. “It was the will of God for President Uhuru Kenyatta to become Kenya’s President, Raila claimed.

The opposition Chief also told reporters that he had done a “tremendous job” in advocating for equality in the handshake initiative. The 74-year-old Raila said: “I think God calls all of us to fill different roles at different times and I think that He wanted my brother Uhuru Kenyatta to become president.”

“That’s why he’s there and I think he has done a tremendous job in supporting a lot of the things that people of faith really care about.”

His comments echo similar remarks made by the Kikuyu elders, that Uhuru’s appointment was ordained by God. “You look at the big 4 agenda alone, I think that will be one of the greatest legacies that the president has after his ten years in office” Odinga added.
