Are AFC leopards finally realizing their potential?

A quick glance at the Kenya Premier League table shows the usual suspects at the top of the pile while the relegation places offer little surprises. What strikes as a major surprise is AFC Leopards in 10th place on the table, just 2 points behind Kariobangi Sharks despite having played a game less.

Given the early-season wrangles that saw them change managers with the same frequency that a toddler wets his pants, being in the position they are in is nothing short of a miracle. To put their results into perspective, Leopards are unbeaten in their last six matches and have scored in all games during that impressive run.

Focused and composed are not words usually associated with AFC Leopards but that is exactly what the feeling is in and around the Den. Their new manager has instilled ‘team first’ philosophy within the squad and the results are telling. Go watch one of their matches and you will see they work for each other on the pitch, even Isuza constantly provides cover when the fullbacks bomb forward.

AFC Leopards have everything needed to challenge Gor Mahia as the team to beat in the Kenyan Premier League. The fanbase is of the same caliber if not bigger, the finances are there and the club’s stature is enough to attract the best talent in the land and beyond its borders.
