This Video of Ruto Leading a Primary School Choir in 1980 will melt your heart

Deputy President William Ruto is a man of many titles; hustler, baba Abby, Arap Mashamba are some of his many titles. But he could just have added another title to his name.

A video has emerged from the archives of a young William Ruto leading a school choir in 1980. And the man can really sing. In fact, singing could be his greatest talent to date.

Ruto leads his schoolmates in singing a song in praise of then President Daniel Arap Moi.

‘Chama cha KANU Kinatawala Kenya. Dereva wake mtukufu Rais Moi. Wanaocheza na Uhuru waangamizwe.’

‘Kwekwe shambani mwa Nyayo na zilimwe’

Ruto went to Kerotet Primary School in the 1980s before joining Kapsabet High School and the University of Nairobi.

He has a long history with Daniel Moi, dating back to the YK92, where he was largely involved in the team that ensured Moi was re-elected despite strong opposition.

After 2002, Ruto was voted as the Secretary General of KANU and Uhuru Kenyatta became the Party leader.

But Ruto and Moi fell out after the DP decided to support Raila Odinga’s presidential bid in 2007.

Ruto is now aiming to be President in 2022 but the Moi family is viewed as biggest obstacle.
