The tag #KenyaCabinetofThieves was trending for the better part of Thursday morning. Apparently, President Uhuru Kenyatta was meeting his ministers and Kenyans decided to remind them that they are guilty.
Kenyans are aware of all the multi-billion corrupt scandals that have rocked the government and they want Uhuru to act. Going through this hashtag, we have compiled a list of some of the most corrupt CSs.
- Henry Rotich
Embattled Treasury CS Henry Rotich should have been the first head to roll after being heavily mentioned in the 21 billion Arror and Kimwarer Dams scandal.
Rotich is accused of dishing out money to a broke contractor. He also used his proxy company to buy land around the site where the dams were to be contracted. He was then to sale the same land to the government at exorbitant prices.
2. James Macharia
James Macharia is competing against himself to be the most incompetent and corrupt minister in Kenya’s history. Macharia is behind the controversial housing levy tax that is supposed to subject Kenyans to another 1.5% salary cut.
Macharia has also been heavily mentioned in controversial deal that would see a broke Kenya Airways take over the management of JKIA.
3. Eugene Wamalwa
In some quarters, Eugene Wamalwa is called the flying CS. This is thanks to his appetite for using helicopters. The current Devolution CS surprised the nation when he denied that some Kenyans had starved to death.
Eugene Wamalwa was also interrogated for his role in the dams scandal. He was the Water and Irrigation Minister in the last government. He has never explained what happened in the multi-billion Galana Kulalu irrigation scheme.
4. Aden Mohammed
Aden Mohammed is the Industrialization CS. He was heavily mentioned in the importation of the poisonous sugar that rocked the country sometimes last year.
The sugar report which implicated Mohammed was controversially shot down in Parliament after Garisa Women Rep Fatuma Gedi, bribed the MPs in the toilet.
