IS James Macharia the Most Corrupt Minister in History?

Transport CS James Macharia is in a big storm over the controversial Housing levy tax. The government wants to deduct 1.5% from every employee’s salary so that it can built them houses.

But a keen look at the laws that will govern the whole fund, and you will understand why Kenyans are so mad. Any person who steals the money will only be subjected to a 10k fine. C’mon we know how Kenyans have a huge appetite for public funds.

But while, the housing levy has exposed Macharia badly, this is not the first questionable decision he has made.

The CS is also on the spot for proposing the controversial merger between a broke Kenya Airways (KQ) and the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA). KQ is a private company that is sinking in debt and cannot even manage its own affairs but Macharia thinks it can manage the airports.

James Macharia, the CS for Infrastructure, should be tried in a court of law for integrity @OkiyaOmtatah. He’s appended his signature and even fronts such a law #HousingFundLevy— Shining Light (@nancyngitonga) April 18, 2019

In Mombasa, the Ministry spent billions to import three ferries; MV Likoni, MV Kwale and MV Jambo. These ferries have been repaired more times than they have been used.

Macharia is also on the spot for the mess that has marred the SGR. The Minister has done nothing to ensure the project returns profits. In fact it is only benefiting banks, NLC commissioners and Senior Managers at Kenya Railways.

The CS is also accused of painting Thika Road with a red line and announcing that the country had invested billions in the implementation of the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) system.

How worse can one man be? Why isn’t the President cracking the whip of James Macharia?
