Lugari MP Ayub Savula is not a new man in the public domain. This is a man that has in some occassions made the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
He is back again and this time with calls for a Lifestyle Audit to be conducted on DP William Ruto.
According to Savula and his team that consists of 9 other members of Parliament, A lifestyle audit should be carried out on the DP based on his known income.
Savula and his team argue that it will be to William Ruto’s own advantage if the General Public knew his total income and what he exactly owns.
As Savula calls for the cleansing of DP William Ruto, he seems to forget that he also has dirty linen out there in the public that needs some thorough cleaning.
It will be remembered that on October 29, 2018, MP Savula and his two wives were arrested and arraigned in court. They were accused of stealing Sh122,335, 500 at Government Advertising Agency.
Hours after his release, the MP was caught on camera insulting the Karen OCS after being arrested for drunk driving.
Dressed in a white shirt that was unbuttoned, he comically vowed to defend ‘the common mwananchi’.
He was staggering and incoherently said that he had called the Attorney General, who was coming to attend to him.
“I will call the Inspector General [of Police]. You are supposed to be a police service. Stop being stupid. I will not leave this place until 6am in the morning (sic). You are paid by taxpayers. If you can do this to me, what else can you do to ordinary Kenyans? You can post this on the internet, I don’t care,” said Savula who had no shoes and could barely stand.
In his corruption case, the second time lawmaker elected on the ANC party ticket in which he is also the deputy party leader allegedly conspired with others including his two wives to steal over KSh 122 million from the Government Advertising Agency under the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology through dubious tendering processes.
The agency was constituted by Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich to be a centralised government agency overseeing all advertising and publicity activities.
With a Corruption case still on his neck, MP Savula should be the last to call for a Lifestyle Audit on DP William Ruto. He should invite the relevant agencies to conduct the audit on him first and later come clean on allegations that he defrauded the Government Advertising Agency Millions.
Before that, his sentiments will only be seen as those meant to divert public attention from his cases. It is as if he is trying to use Ruto to cover his dirty side.
