Mount Kenya University Foundation has announced for 2019 scholarship for needy students.
The Foundation was established to coordinate several activities that the University has been undertaking in aid of students and alumni.
Its programmes are geared towards harnessing public and private support that benefits the educational, research and community service mandates of the University.
The Foundation provides a structured avenue for alumni, friends, corporations, institutions, and philanthropists to give gifts and donations.
Speaking MKU Founder Dr. Simon Gicharu states that the scholarship is aimed to empower Kenyans across the Country especially those from a humble background.
He calls on other institutions and organizations to sponsor a bright and needy student who can’t afford to pay their fee.
“I would like to sensitize the need for curriculum empowerment to the youth and MKU has been doing these programmes every year through sponsorship,” he said.
MKU supports professional student associations and clubs as a potential breeding ground of the country’s innovative and creative minds.
MKU founder, Simon Gicharu donated Sh3 million to support registered professional student clubs and associations within the university.
The grant, managed by MKUF, disbursed Sh1.2 million to the first cohort of six qualifying student clubs and associations to run their respective projects.
During the awarding ceremony mid last June, Prof Gicharu informed the students that the spirit of the grant was to incite them to shun tribal groupings and embrace their diversity, creativity and entrepreneurial skills.

| Scholarship is open to ALL students studying at Mount Kenya University irrespective of their Nationality.The mode of study MUST be REGULAR.The student MUST demonstrate good academic records.The student MUST demonstrate that he/she is needy.The student MUST have a good disciplinary record. Physically challenged needy students are encouraged to apply. In addition, due consideration will be given to gender equity and students from marginalized communities. |
