Messi to miss Manchester United clash?

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi missed the weekend 0-0 draw to Huesca with manager Ernesto Valverde revealing that he was not feeling well after the Manchester United game.

Messi, who created a chance for Suarez to force an own goal from Luke Shaw in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, suffered a bloodied nose and swollen eye after a challenge with Chris Smalling, with the Argentine’s influence waning thereafter.

Barcelona carry a 1-0 advantage heading into the second leg on Tuesday 16th April at the Camp Nou Stadium as they are seeking to progress to the semi-finals.

Messi is set to be back in the clash against United, with Valverde revealing that he was rested for the Huesca clash because he was not feeling well after the clash with Smalling.

“I spoke to him and he is fine, but it was a hard knock. He wasn’t feeling good the day after nor during the rest of the match. It was like a truck had run over him.” Luis Suarez who was also rested for the LaLiga weekend clash is set to return for the second leg against United.
