Akothee has successfully pooled fellow Kenyan artists to raise funds to make sure that the areas experiencing drought will have long term solutions implemented to avoid recurring incidents.

A mega concert is set to go down on 14th April 2019 and Akothee will be performing alongside other star artists.

Kenyans are enthusiastic to join hands in Akothee’s charity course hoping it will generate a permanent solution.

The Kenya Red Cross Society in March suffered a backlash after launching drought appeal to support over 1.1 million people affected by the ongoing drought situation in Kenya.

This was after over Sh700 million in cash and Sh300 million in kind were collected from Kenya for Kenyans initiative in 2011 and most of the money was invested in farm projects that were to serve as a long-term solution to the often deadly hunger in the arid county.

Claims of embezzlement coupled with sheer lack of accountability during the initiative which was spearheaded by the KRCS in 2011 came back to haunt the society.

The famed project sponsored by the Kenya Red Cross in 2011 and supported by a number of corporate organisations and celebrities – and boosted by millions of Kenyans who contributed as little as Sh10 –  ran for only three years before it grounded.
