A violent gangster and a convicted terrorist traded blows in a shocking brawl that was caught live on camera inside one of Australia’s roughest Prisons.
Bassam Hamzy and Talal Alameddine exchanged kicks and punches after having a ‘heated discussion’ over the balance of power inside the prison.
Both Hamzy, 40 and Alameddine, 26, were separated and detained by Corrective Services NSW officers at Goulburn’s Supermax prison, it is reported. They were seen by medical staff but refused treatement.
It’s said neither of them wanted to speak about what happened or what started the alleged brawl. Convicted killer Hamzy, founded the notorious gang ‘Brothers 4 Life’ in 2008 while serving behind bars after he converted to Islam.
He was jailed in 1998 for the shooting dead Kris Toumazis outside a nightclub in Sydney and has been the most feared prisoner for more than 10 years. In 2008, he was caught using a smuggled phone to organise kidnappings, shootings and kneecappings.
He was also convicted of conspiring to have a key witness murdered while serving behind bars. He is now serving a combined maximum sentence of more than 40 years; his earliest release date is in June 2035.
Alameddine was sentenced to a maximum 17 years in prison for supplying the gun used to murder police accountant Curtis Cheng in a terrorist attack in 2015. Police have launched an investigation and went on to charge the two with affray on New Year’s Eve. Their cases were reportedly adjourned until June.
Both could face a maximum of 10 years behind bars on top of their existing sentences.
