Stop Trying To Be Perfect: It’s Costing You More than You Think!

As human beings, we always want to have the best of everything. A beautiful life, good health, a loving spouse, gorgeous kids, and wealth beyond our wildest dreams and imaginations.

To achieve these dreams, we set goals and objectives.

The only problem is that after we set these goals, we become obsessed; and we try to be perfect.

Perfectionism Is  A Myth

There is no such thing as ‘perfect.’ It’s an illusion.

Even a high-precision industry like Aviation has an error of 99,9% something something, hence the unfortunate occurrence of crashes here and there.

Once you realize that you can’t be perfect (and shouldn’t even try to be) you start looking at your goals differently.

In fact, don’t even have goals, have repetitions!

Yes, get rid of the concept of goals. You see, goals make you have delusions of grandeur.

Only when I achieve goal x is when I’ll be happy

Instead, focus on repetitions.

A repetition is something that you do over and over until that task or activity becomes ingrained in your belief system.

For example. If you plan to lose weight, don’t put a certain weight scale and say, in the next 30 days, I will be this weight. This won’t work!

Instead, focus on repetitions. You can make it a repetition to avoid eating a slice of bread every day, a repetition to use the stairs to work instead of using the elevator, or even a repetition to substitute a fruit salad for the meat pie you like to buy every evening.

Long story short? It’s not the quest to achieve one perfect goal that makes you better, it’s the skills you develop on a regular basis that makes you achieve what you desire.

In other words, when working on something you desire to have, don’t only focus on the end result of the desire.

Focus on the repetition. A step a day. Focus on the piles of work that come prior to you achieving this success.

So when you start to look at your desires this way, you begin to see the importance of having a system to cope with repetitions instead of only focusing on the end result.

Remember this…

The goal is just an event (which is something that you can’t totally control or predict).

However, your consistency in repetition is what makes the event happen.

And here’s the shocking truth:

If you forget the end result and only focus on the repetition, YOU WILL STILL GET RESULTS.

So ignore the goals and build habits instead, the outcomes will still be there anyway!

Perfection doesn’t exist 😉
