24-year-old house-girl was arrested on Wednesday, April 10 barely hours after she sent an unsettling text message to the baby’s mother revealing her mission.
Sharon Chepkoech expressed her intentions of traveling to Malawi with the child if her ransom needs were not met.
“Send me KSh 10,000 in the next 10 minutes or I’m fleeing with the child to Malawi,” the text message read.
Upon arrest, she was briefly grilled at the Shauri Moyo Police station before being transferred Kiamumbi in Mwiki.
The child’s mother Mary Ndegwa revealed she had only been with the help for two weeks.
“She had stolen my clothes and had carried a knife in case the money was not sent she said I will never see my baby, she said as quoted by Citizen.
The househelp was able to be tracked as police were able to track her phone, which was online throughout the harrowing ordeal.
