Chelsea star Eden Hazard arguably gave one of his best displays wearing Chelsea shirt on Monday in a 2-0 win against West Ham.
The tricky Belgian scored both goals and his first will be long remembered by those who witnessed it.
After picking the ball up on the halfway line, Hazard weaved his way in between five Hammers defenders and into the box, before sweeping the ball past Lukasz Fabianski.
He celebrated scoring that spectacular solo goal with a trademark knee slide, before wrapping up the game late on with a second strike.
The winger made all the difference on Monday night and his performance had West Ham fans chanting ‘Eden Hazard, he’s off to Madrid’ throughout the match.
Reports from Spain suggest Real are close to finally securing his services in a near £100 million deal that could be finalised as early as this week.
After the game though, Hazard came out and suggested that the visiting supporters were wrong to chant that and claimed that he’s focused on Chelsea until the end of the season.
But according to the Telegraph, he is ready to play hardball over a move if the Blues don’t lower their £100 million asking price.
The paper suggests that Hazard will refuse to sign any new contract offered, even if his club threaten to take him into the final year of his current deal.
That means Chelsea could be forced to accept an offer this summer, even if it’s not quite one that matches their valuation.
With Hazard showing no intention of signing a new deal, the Londoners would lose him on a free in just over 12 months time – with a risk he could go to an English rival.
The report adds that although the Belgian is keen to negotiate an amicable exit, he’s desperate to move to the Bernabeu and is worried that this summer could be his last chance to do so.
With Chelsea not likely to risk Hazard becoming a free agent, Real are confident they can get a deal done before next season and the player’s attitude could become key to that.
