The Orange Democratic Party was over the weekend humiliated after a bitter loss in two by-elections held in areas considered to be the Party’s strongholds.
ODM lost in both Ugenya and Embakasi South despite camping in the areas conducting vigorous campaigns.
In Embakasi South, Wiper’s Julius Mawathe garnered 21,628 votes to win against ODM candidate Irshad Sumra’s 7,988 while in Ugenya, Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG)’s David Ochieng’ garnered 18,730 votes against ODM’s Chris Karan’s 14,507.
Ruto would then take to his social media account to congratulate Mawathe and Ochieng following their respective wins while at the same time mocking Opposition Party ODM.
Well, the Deputy President has once again spoke on the Just concluded by-elections.
In his latest statement, Ruto has confirmed that he did not support any candidate but his tweet was a tribute to the winners.
“I did not support anybody because we did not have a candidate in the by-elections. I talked of ‘hustler nation’ because nobody believed in the candidates but they went on to win despite heavy artillery deployed against them. It is ODM which framed it as Ruto versus Raila and so I said let them just deal with it,” he said.
