Raila Odinga misleading advise to DP William Ruto

Ask Uhuru why you are targeted in war against corruption - Raila to Ruto

Opposition leader Raila Odinga, has advised Deputy President William Ruto to inquired from his boss whether or not he is being targeted in the ongoing graft purge.

Raila dismissed allegations that the anti-graft war was targeting certain individuals or communities and reiterated those who feel they are targeted should find out why from President Uhuru Kenyatta if that is the case.

Addressing journalists on Monday, April 8, shortly after holding a consultative meeting with a section of Kalenjin leaders at his Capital Hill office, the Opposition chief wondered why Ruto was panicking over the war on corruption.

“If he feels that he is being targeted by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), then he should ask the president,” he said.

The former prime minister further advised the DP to support the anti-corruption war because of the position he holds in the government, arguing that doing the opposit could be tantamount to implicating the president.

He however, echoed earlier remarks by the president who had indicated in his State of the Nation Address that the graft war will be fought within the confines of the law.

A section of Jubilee politicians led by Ruto had accused the DCI George Kinoti and the DPP Noordin Haji of targeting individuals in the war against graft.

The DP went as far as accusing the investigative institutions of peddling lies and propaganda in the name of fighting corruption.

“We must leave out propaganda and falsehood in fight against corruption. Repeating a lie will not make it the truth,” Ruto said in Mombasa on March 9, 2019, in response to a statement issued earlier by the DPP regarding the ongoing probe into the multi-billion Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.
