Teacher Tabichi Back in class after winning Sh100 million

Global Teacher Prize winner of 100 million Peter Mokaya Tabichi is back in class.

In photos doing rounds in Social Media, Mr Tabichi is seen in class with his pupils.

Mr. Tabichi, a Mathematics and Physics teacher at Keriko Mixed Day Secondary School in Pwani Village, Nakuru was announced the winner of the global prize on Sunday evening at a ceremony held in Dubai last month.

The Varkey Foundation’s $1 million (Ksh.100 million) Global Teacher Prize honors one exceptional teacher every year.

Mr. Tabichi, 36, was crowned the winner for dedicating his life to helping others. He gives 80% of his teaching salary to local community projects, including education, sustainable agriculture, and peace-building.

President Uhuru Kenyatta committed to donating Ksh20 million to Teacher Peter Tabichi’s school.

Speaking at State House on Monday, revealed that the money was meant to improve skills geared towards encouraging the students to take science subjects.

He disclosed that Tabichi was a role model and an inspiration to the society, especially to his fellow teachers and all Kenyan students.

He even asked other leaders to emulate him and that he is proof that commitment and integrity pay off.
