The rebirth of the United Democratic party has sent a chilling message to a section of jubilee politicians opposing the DP presidential ambitions 2022.
For a second time within a month, Ruto supporters were seen donning attires that resemble those of the party.
Supporters of Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday resurfaced with T-shirts with colours resembling those of defunct United Republican Party, a move that could raise questions over his commitment in Jubilee party.
Last week, dozens of youths poured into the streets of Kiambaa in yellow T-shirts associated with URP. They demanded that Dr Ruto address them before he left the scene for another function.
On Sunday in Nairobi, a group of DP Ruto supporters were again pictured in yellow T-shirts written ‘team WSR’ just before accompanying him to a function in Lang’ata and Dagoretti South constituencies.
For days now, Ruto has openly asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to part ways with ODM leader Raila Odinga, accusing the former PM of working with sections of Jubilee leaders to block his 2022 presidential bid.
Early this year, former Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe insisted that Ruto should retire with President Uhuru Kenyatta. In a statement that caused cracks within the ruling party, Murathe also warned mass exodus from Jubilee party should Ruto insist of competing.
The recent developments have left DP William Ruto’s allies cautious of his next step. Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei is on record for admitting that Dr Ruto could source for another party ahead of 2022 polls.
Now a section of the Jubilee MPs allied to Kieleweke squad is accusing the DP of sponsoring youths to cause political havoc within the jubilee party.
A source who has sought anonymity has said that Ruto is not loyal to the Jubilee and the presidency.
“We knew that the DP will form the party similar to the URP and we are very happy to this we couldn’t accommodate him in Jubilee,”he said.
Earlier the DP had accused opposition leader Raila Odinga of plotting to overthrow him from the Jubilee party.
He had said that Raila chased him from the ODM and thus he couldn’t allow him to chase him again.
“We will not allow the opposition to kill the Jubilee party,they chased me from ODM and i cant allow them to kill Jubilee,”he said.
Also a section of the Jubilee party MPs allied to Maina Kamanda had said that they will form a new party for 2022.
They had accused the DP to penetrating the Jubilee party internal structures with an aim to kill those opposing his presidential bid.
