Chelsea host West Ham on Monday evening in the Premier League. The Blues come into the clash on the back of their 3-0 win against Brighton last week.
Sarri’s men know a win against the Hammers could send Chelsea up to third, ahead of Arsenal and Tottenham. Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi earned his first Blues start against Brighton, just days after making his England debut.
The winger impressed against Brighton, however, Sarri has refused to confirm Hudson-Odoi will get more game time for the remainder of the season.
When asked in his pre-match press conference if Hudson-Odoi will start against West Ham, Sarri simply said: “I don’t know.”
Ruben Loftus-Cheek is another Chelsea youngster who has struggled to get game time under Sarri this season.
The 23-year-old has scored in the Blues’ last two Premier League games against Cardiff and Brighton.
However, Sarri says Loftus-Cheek isn’t fit enough to play 90 minutes.
When asked if Loftus-Cheek will start most games in the coming weeks, Sarri replied: “Maybe, but we need to check every day the condition of his back.
“This morning he had only a recovery session because he needs time to recover after a match.
“The problem is he probably cannot play 90 minutes.”
Olivier Giroud started – and scored – against Brighton last week, with the former Arsenal man impressing.
Sarri opted to bench Gonzalo Higuain, who has struggled to settle in at Stamford Bridge.
And the Chelsea boss has revealed he’s pleased to have both Giroud and Higuain.
“I think he [Higuain] needs time to improve his condition and be suitable for the Premier League but I think he is able to do it,” he added.
“We are lucky because we have Giroud and he is in a very good mental and physical condition.
“We play every three days so we need both.”
