There are people DP William Ruto should chase away when they try to join him for functions unless he condones corruption.

Mr Ruto is not an ordinary Kenyan he is the Deputy President of Kenya. This makes him a key player in the Executive. He should not only provide political leadership, but also exercise broad supervisory powers over all functions of government.

But his association with corrupt figures across the country jeopardizes his 2022 bid as well as his reputation.

Going back , Kenyans cant forget the day after Okoth Obado was released on bail following his detention in remand over the death of his pregnant girlfriend, and at a time when he was warding off claims that he facilitated theft of close to Sh2 billion in Migori.

However to be sure, Mr Obado has not been convicted of any offence. He remains innocent until tried and found guilty; and there is more than ever the chance that he eventually might be acquitted.

But what Kenyans saw was not just Mr Obado declaring support for Mr Ruto’s presidential quest, but also Ruto publicly demonstrating his backing for a governor facing serious criminal charges.

Just recently the auditor general revealed that Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal’s administration is facing a Sh1.8 billion audit query arising from malpractices in its management of county cash.

Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal who is out on bail for stealing 2 billion from his county drove all the way from Samburu to join the Deputy President in Kiambaa.

Yesterday morning Governor Lenolkulal was arrested again after the DPP recommended his prosecution in a fresh 84 million fuel scam.

Is Ruto’s character similar to those governors he hangs out with?
