Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has cheekily added his voice to the publicized nasty divorce pitting Meru Senator Mithika Linturi and former Chief of Staff in the Office of the Deputy President Maryanne Keitany.
Sonko commented a few hours after an affidavit by Keitany, accusing Linturi of having “poor bedroom skills, was made public.
The Nairobi Governor advised Linturi to sue the newspapers that had reported on the bedroom matter, but advised that elderly men should not be ridiculed for their poor bedroom skills.

The Nairobi Governor further criticized the local media for covering stories about people’s matrimonial lives.

“This is nonsense of the highest order and totally unacceptable. The star is becoming a gutter press day by day. We shall not allow them to publish bedroom stories of other men with their wives. Which journalist was present in their bedroom during that material night?” he wrote.
The media is protected from defamation when reporting on matters that have gone on record in court processes.
The controversial affidavit filed by Keitany quoted her saying her estranged husband “could not rise to the occasion in the bedroom”, adding that it was one of the grounds for filing for divorce.
Under Kenyan law, divorce is only granted under five grounds including adultery; cruelty; exceptional depravity of conjugal rights; desertion for at least three years; and irretrievable breakdown of the marriage (where the parties do not have to give evidence on the nature of their differences).
