AU envoy Raila Odinga announced on social media that he held a meeting with Kitui governor Charity Ngilu at his Capitol Hill Office.

Raila, who was accompanied with his daughter Rosemary Odinga, said he discussed matters of national interest with the first time governor.

The meeting comes on the backdrop of a recent meeting between the three Ukambani governors; Ngilu, Alfred Mutua and Kivutha Kibwana. Kalonzo Musyoka was heavily mentioned in the governors’ meeting.

It is not clear if Kalonzo featured in the Capitol Hill meeting but you can never know for sure what Raila is upto.

Raila and Ngilu have a rich political history dating back to their days in the Rainbow Coalition where they campaigned for Mwai Kibaki. Raila was named Roads Minister while Ngilu became Health Minister.

In 2007, Ngilu declared her support for Raila’s presidential candidature, describing him as Kenya’s Nelson Mandela. Kibaki sacked her from Cabinet a day later.
