A 29-year-old man was on Friday charged with beating up his wife after he found her inspecting his phone messages without his consent.
Erick Ouma who appeared before Kibera magistrate Barbara Ojoo denied the charges.
The accused is said to have assaulted Elizabeth Ouma on the night of March 20, at their home in Kawangware.
It is said that the wife was checking his M-Pesa balance when she was confronted by her furious husband.
It is alleged that the accused had refused to give the money she wanted to use on buying medicine.
According to the prosecution, Ouma decided to beat up his the wife after she inspected his phone.
The prosecution said the accused assaulted the wife with kicks and fisticuffs.
He was arrested with the help of neighbours and taken to Riruta police station.
Ouma requested the court to release him on reasonable bond terms so that he could get medication from a nearby dispensary as the police had injured his head.
The magistrate directed the police to have him get treatment before his bond application this morning.
