Orengo fires back at critics, clarifies why he is going after Ruto

Siaya Senator James Orengo has insisted that he is going after Deputy President Dr William Ruto as there is no reason to always arrest junior civil servants when those in charge of corruption walk around scot-free without the burden of proof.

Siaya Senator James Orengo addressing residents in Ugenya on March 30, 2019.

Addressing residents during the Ugenya by-election campaigns, Orengo said they are not always going to wait for the DPP and DCI to act in the war on against corruption but act as leaders.

Orengo applauded some of the ODM MPs plotting to impeach Finance Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich before the DPP and DCI complete the investigations.

The Senate Minority Leader reminded Kenyans that the war on corruption can only be won if they begin from the top and not from the bottom.

“South Africa is the best example on the war against corruption when they turned against their former president Jacob Zuma and he is now an accused person in the court of law,” Orengo said.

The Siaya Senator insisted that the war on corruption is continuous and they are not going to change tune as the war must begin from the top just like in South Africa.

Orengo regretted that many developments in the country have been derailed because of a few corrupt individuals who should be dealt with once and for all.

“The other day I was talking to some investor from Mauritius who has build nine dams in the country and he didn’t even spend anything next to Sh21 billion for two dams,” Orengo said.

He added that people who are not corrupt should not be worried when they are waging the war on corruption to protect resources for the better tomorrow.
