Still under investigation, it has been reported that a Kenyan-based Congoloese footballer kidnapped his former employers two year old son in a bid to collect randsom.
It has been noted that, Patient Lukige the footballer was also on a revenge mission of matters that had not been solved between the two parties.
The Congolese footballer, who remains on the run demanded a ransom of Sh200,000 from his former boss, Solomon Alubala, who is Wazito FC’s Sporting Director, while holding his son hostage.
Lukige initially played for Wazito currently plays for National Super League side Fortune Sacco
The incident was reported at the Industrial Area Police Station under OB Number – OB65/27/3/2019.
“We last tracked his phone record along Waiyaki Way (in Nairobi) but he went off the radar. We are pursuing him and very soon he will be arrested,” a Police officer handling the case was quoted by the Nairobian.
Alubala once housed the player when he played for the club and the player is understood to have taken full advantage of Alubala’s hospitality to commit the act.
Lukige, who had a good knowledge of Alubala’s residence, reportedly sneaked into the compound and took away the child.
After a lengthy negotiation, the two parties agreed on Sh120,000 ‘ransom’ before the ‘kidnapper’ released the minor. Police said the child was found at the Roast House next to Koja Stage in Nairobi’s CBD.
Lukige left Wazito in June 2018 on mutual consent but conspired to commit this act as ‘revenge’ as he demanded money ‘owed’ to him by the club.
At the time the Congolese player was leaving the club, it was a broke outfit, struggling to make ends meet.
But the financial situation at the club has since changed for the better after the National Super League side was recently acquired by Dubai based billionaire Ricardo Badoer.
