Unai Emery reveals one player Arsenal will have to depend on for a good finish to the season

Super Eagles star, Alex Iwobi, has found out along with the rest of his Arsenal team-mates the one player head coach, Unai Emery, believes will become so important to the team. And that player is certainly one who no one would be expecting to hold such a role.

Speaking ahead of the Monday night game at home to Newcastle United, Emery said Denis Suarez, who is on loan from Barcelona, is ready to make an impact in the starting team of the Gunners after experiencing a slow start to life at the Emirates Stadium.

The Spanish midfielder has found regular playing time hard to come by since arriving at North London, but the Gunners boss has been impressed with his progress. “He is okay for starting in the first XI, to give us this impact. We are going to need everybody, every player for the next matches.”

25-year-old Suarez joined the Gunners on a six-month loan deal from the Nou Camp side on transfer deadline day in January, but since then he has only managed to appear in four Premier League matches. He is also still waiting for his first start with the club in a competitive match.

However, the former Manchester City and Sevilla man had the chance to prove himself during the international break, as he played the full 90 minutes during Arsenal’s 3-2 friendly victory over Al Nasr in Dubai to end the club’s training camp in the Middle East, providing the assist for the opening goal scored by Carl Jenkinson.

AHis output during the club’s warm-weather training camp in Dubai impressed Emery and the Arsenal boss has now hinted he could be in line to feature against Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United on Monday.

The 47-year-old stated in a press conference on Friday: “We decided to go away to train for four days and play a match in Dubai. But it’s the same idea, the same spirit.”

And when the Gunners boss was asked why it has taken so long for Suarez to settle into his new surroundings, he said: “It’s normal. Now we have a lot of players ready, with a big mentality and with a big performance to play and help us.”
