President Kenyatta tells of DP Ruto allies

President Uhuru Kenyatta has insisted on continuing his fight against graft despite the political noise.

The president told off some political figures allied to DP William Ruto – who have branded the purge as a tribal and political war against a specific group of people

In his address to the nation the president said, “Let us allow the agencies to do their work and not turn this into community or individual fights. Let’s desist from claiming that it’s targeting so and so.”

Uhuru was addressing the nation from State House in Nairobi, where he noted that the war against corruption will continue despite the opposition it faces from some political quarters.

He added that corruption is indeed an existing thing, and can only be wiped out by being fought seriously without political rhetorics.

“We must deal with the corruption and the fact of the matter is that it exists whether we agree or not,” he added.

Ruto’s allies have repeatedly claimed that the fight targets the DP, and is aimed at painting him corrupt, with the ultimate intention of ruining his winning chances in  2022.

They have also called for the removal of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in the fight, saying that the institution is being used by anti-Ruto elements to frustrate him.
