United Defender Gives a Brutal Response to Swedish Fans Who Threatened Him

Manchester United defender Victor Lindeof has harshly responded to Swedish fans who threatened him for pulling out of the Sweden squad.

The centre back has been impressing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in recent weeks and earned himself another call up to the Sweden squad for their latest round of internationals.

However, the 24-year-old pulled out after his call up due to personal reasons.

His decision to withdraw was due to his wife, Maja, being due to give birth and the pair welcomed their son in to the world over the weekend.

Upon the announcement of Lindelof withdrawing he was subject to a number of threats from people who were angry he would not be playing in the games against Romania and Norway.

The Swedish FA confirmed they had been in contact with the police over a number of threats made towards the centre back.

And Lindelof told Swedish channel Viasat the comments made were ‘sick.’

“I have not followed it so much but focused on what has been important to me and that is Maja,” Lindelof said.

“People always wonder what lies behind things. What I cannot understand is how people cannot respect that is a personal reason. For me it is quite sick that you can not only respect it and release it.

“But then, well, you play football you have to share everything that happens in one’s life. So maybe it is, but for me it is completely sick.”
