Racism! Xenophobic Attacks In South Africa Hit The 3rd Day! Foreigners Killed

Xenophobic attacks against foreigners in South Africa are reported to have resurfaced in some parts of KwaZulu Natal Province.

Xenophobic attacks are related to fear or dislike of foreigners or people of different cultures. It is not the first time South Africa is fighting foreigners citing they are intruding in their businesses.

Foreign nationals were left homeless, injured and destitute after xenophobic attacks which erupted in Durban this week, forcing them to seek refuge in mosques. a good number of people have died following the attacks.

The attacks started on Tuesday night after local residents raided the homes of foreign nationals, forcing them to move out with no place to sleep.

Sydenham police station housed more than 100 people displaced from their homes.

On Wednesday morning, 20 people sought shelter from a mosque in Crescent Street in Overport, Durban, after they were attacked at Jadhu Place informal settlement in Springfield Park.

People have criticized the attacks on Twitter and united in prayer for those affected. Here are some comments from twitter.

A video that has surfaced on the internet shows foreigners being attacked and one man is heard speaking in Zulu saying foreigners are working and the locals are not working.

On Monday South launched a national action plan to combat racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and ethnic intolerance.

It was launched by Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development John Jeffery at the St George Hotel in Irene during an event attended by civil society organizations and government officials.
