It is tears, pain and depression to Kenyan, Isaac Kiprotich after being dumped in Qatar by a recruitment agency in Kenya.
Isaac a resident of Mosoriot, Nandi county was recruited for a job 2 years ago by Samoline recruitment Agency LImited. He identifies the Human Resource Manager as Irene Jepkorir.
According to Isaac, life has been hell since he left the country hoping to change his life.
After recruitment, he was given a job offer letter by a firm he identifies as Elite Company Limited.
This, to Isaac, was beginning of his misery. On arrival in Qatar alongside other colleagues, they were received and left in an accommodation room for 2 days without anything to eat.
“We were later taken to accompany for a job. We worked for 2 months and some weeks but no one paid us. Demanding the salaries, we were informed of our recruitment agency having taken all our salaries,” narrated Isaac in tears.
The recruiting firm offered to change their workplace which Isaac and colleagues refused.
Someone took them to another company where Isaac worked for a week and unfortunately got an accident. He slipped and fell off a staircase and fractured his leg.
This has made unable to work hence spending time with a well-wisher. He has not been able to receive proper medical attention to date.
“I went to CID and Ministry of labour offices but they all demanded a ticket. I am pleading for well-wishers to help get back home. I don’t know what I will do. Once I arrive at home to facilitated medication of my dislocated leg. I can’t move,” cried Isaac.
In a follow up with Samoline on Thursday, the operations manager Josephine Muriuki, said they had only learnt of Isaac’s predicaments through social media.
She said it could not be true that he had not been paid by the employer, faulting him for taking the wrong approach to have his grievances address.
“I have not received any communication from anyone, neither from him. We are not human traffickers and we have only learnt about this through social media. He was legally recruited and if he had challenges, he should have even reached out to me,” said the manager.
She pledged to follow up on the matter noting that if there were any dues, he’d be paid before returning home.
Muriuki fears that Isaac had cases of alleged misconduct at work. She accused him of causing fights at Qatar, the reason he had feared following laid down procedures for fear of possible arrests.
Nandi County Governor Stephen Sang contributed Ksh 50, 000 while a number of his close friends are still working to generate a playbill number to facilitate easier contribution that would help Isaac.
