A man who shocked the nation after being accused of sexually abusing nine boys at Martyrs of Uganda School in Machakos has been charged.
David Mutuku Katuku, a cook, was arraigned before Machakos Resident Magistrate E. Analo where he was charged with sodomizing nine boys.
He pleaded guilty to one of the counts and denied the other eight.
The Magistrate directed that the accused remain in custody until a pre-bail report is prepared to determine whether the accused will be granted bond.
The prosecution opposed the release of the suspect saying the accused had gone into hiding in the past after learning that police were searching, adding that he can’t be trusted.
Further, the court was told that it would be hard to trace the accused who has no known permanent place of residence.
Mutuku was arrested on Monday after being on the run for days.
