No Mercy as Gor Mahiaforward Nicholas Kipkirui Puts his former Club to the sword

Nicholas Kipkirui was always going to be the main talking point in a Gor Mahia vs Zoo Kericho match.

The striker made his name at the Green Stadium where played for two seasons before switching to K’Ogalo early this year.

But coach Hassan Oktay looked to cool things off when he named him on the bench deciding to start with a partnership of Denis Oliech and Ugandan import Erisa Ssekisambu.

and even though Gor went into half-time with a comfortable 2-0 lead, thanks to a beautiful free kick from Kenneth Muguna and a strike from Oliech, it always felt that the climax of the match was yet to come.

Oliech could have put the match beyond reach for the home side but he
skied his spot-kick moments after the restart.

And in came Kipkirui for his first match against his former club, and didn’t he impress?

He scored the 3rd goal after rounding the goalkeeper to finish off a rapid counter-attack before he provided Oliech for his second of the afternoon from another brilliant break by the visitors.

This was typical Kipkirui, no jokes only business. The 21 year old had shared his feelings about the home return on social media.

I am sure non of the Kericho fans will hold any grudges. After all, fans should celebrate when a player they made succeeds on the big stage.

The win moved Gor to second on the log, one point behind leaders Sofapaka but with three matches in hand. They will start smelling the title if they overcome a tricky Kariobangi Sharks in Kisumu on Saturday.
