Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto is currently a man standing between two thorny parts after ODM leaders threatened to sponsor an impeachment motion against Deputy President William Ruto.
Ruto is not new to impeachment calls. His career journey up the stage has been marred by rough storms way long before he even declared his interest for the top seat in the country.
His woes started way back in 2009 when then Prime Minister Raila Odinga instructed him to step aside as the minister of Agriculture after maize craft cases emerged. A vote of no confidence against him was then drafted and brought to the foot of parliament for discussion.
Ruto stood tall and defended himself to the last man. The motion was then defeated badly earning Ruto a big scorecard. The then President Mwai Kibaki came to the rescue of Ruto making Ruto garner a lot of sympathy from the legislatures.
An as Siaya senator James Orengo and his ODM brigade prepares to sponsor the bill, on thing is eminent! Ruto is definately going to take advantage of the motion and turn it to serve on his favour.
First he will play the victim of the dynasty nation something that will earn him sympathy votes of many Kenyans. He will use the motion against him to endear himself to many Kenyans since he will be viewed as only a victim of the handshake and not necessarily corrupt as alleged.
The man is a political wizard. Progressively, he has advanced his political network and won the hearts of Kenyans through; traversing the Country, popularizing Jubilee’s development agenda and also by converting many of his fierce critics to loyal/ardent “followers”
Ruto has a mass following of leaders from Mt. Kenya Region. The motion against him will find it hard to convince his allies majority from Rift Valley, Central, Western, North Easter and Coast that their master is corrupt and should be ousted out.
William Ruto has been part of the presidency for over five years. During this time he must have built vast network with resourceful/connector persons and organizations as far as political processes are concerned. Being the president’s assistant, he must have learned how to acquire/wield power first hand. This will come in handy when dealing with his obstacles since he has all the required skills and machineries at his disposal.
William Ruto has perfected the art of public speaking… both Swahili and English…arguably his sense of humor and excitement cultivation is on another level. Ably, he addresses forums with an excellent demonstration of wit, knowledge, and understanding of whichever topic the conversation is about. This makes him a great communicator… he will speak to the hearts many Kenyans like no other an this will definitely win their hearts!
Finally, one day in politics is quite a long time… there is so much that can happen/change. Ceteris paribus I William Samoei Ruto is going to win this motion if brought to parliament and if he does so, then it will be a mileage for him as he prepares to take the country’s top most job.
