Why Are ‘Walevi’ Drivers Still Killing Helpless Kenyans On the Road?

It is a sad day indeed for dozens of families receiving disheartening news that their relatives are no more.

This comes after a brutal accident that took the lives of six people at Masimba Market along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway early in the morning.

Yet again the narrative is the same!

A lorry collided with a 14-seater matatu and as expected, the passengers of the matatus were the ones being ferried in bodybags after being crushed to death by the lorry.

A few days ago, 11 fatalities were recorded when a trailer collided with a matatu along the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway.

Reckless Lorry Drivers

There’s no denying that lorry drivers in Kenya are some of the most reckless road users in the country.

And despite them causing hundreds of deaths, many of them go scott-free because of corruption.

Most of these drivers get very little training on highway rules, and all they have to do is pay instructors a little extra for a certificate right away!

Greedy Traffic Officers

When lorry drivers are drunk-driving on the road, do you think they worry about getting arrested?

No!

They simply bribe traffic officers at different stops to grant them passage despite being stoned, drunk, or high!!

What is sad is that these silly corrupt traffic officers are inadvartently resulting in the deaths of our family members with impunity!

The government better act quick or more souls will be lost to these unfortunate deaths.
