Senator Millicent Omanga, who was rescued by DP Ruto from streets hawking bed sheets, implicated in the 4.8billion Prison scandal

Jubilee nominated Senator Millicent Omanga is a troubled woman after it emerged that she is part of the ‘cartel’ that have been implicated in the foiled Sh4.8 billion gun supplies at the prisons department.

She had earlier rubbished claims that were it not for the DP she would be selling bed sheets, saying she has always been a businesswoman and has stalls all over.

“It wasn’t bed sheets only but you understand the social media…I have been doing business for long until now.” She said.

And to cement their friendship, Ruto
nominated her to the Senate after she lost in the Jubilee Party primaries to Rachel Shebesh.

She is quoted saying; “I dare say the
person who is behind my success today is none other than William Samoei Ruto,” a seemingly grateful Omanga declared then.

Omanga had worked with Ruto’s defunct party, United Republican Party (URP), before.

She also added that she was an interior design by passion and I have over 20 stores in different parts of the country selling interior household and office items including furniture,” she noted.

However Trouble has rained on Omanga after the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) unearthed a plan masterminded by the immediate former Commissioner-General of Prisons Isaiah Osugo who also faces jail after an audit at the Department of Correctional Services established that he is to blame for the fraudulent award of Sh4.8 billion classified tenders for the supply of weapons.

Investigations into the matter are being finalized and they are unearthing a plot wherein the Senator and some other individuals almost staged a theft that could have robbed the country billions of shillings days after the infamous dams scandal.

EACC boss Twalib Mbarak said the scandal was detected and stopped just before the money was transferred from the Ministry accounts to the supplying firms’ accounts.

Omanga is the founder and managing director of Milways Enterprises which deals in construction, import of furniture and electrical appliances and was to supply G3 slings valued at Ksh200 million.

Suspicions were, however, raised given that all guns came with slings attached to them. Also, the slings prices were exaggerated from Ksh200 to Ksh5,000 per piece.
