The Principal Secretary Nelson Marwa has been taken to court for neglecting his child.
A 27 year old Elizabeth Moraa Mairura moved to court seeking child support from Marwa claims that he is the biological father of her year-old daughter.She alleges that Marwa deliberately refused, ignored and neglected to discharge his parental responsibilities towards the child from the time she was born.
She further claimed that when the child was delivered through caesarean section, Marwa settled the hospital bill of Sh50,000.
According to Moraa they both had an intimate relationship that resulted in a baby girl who was born on February 7, 2018.She was residing in Mombasa when she met Marwa who was by then the coast Regional Coordinator.
She also accuses Marwa of declining to provide his identity card for the purposes of Certificate of Birth issuance for the minor.In a sworn affidavit, Marwa has, however, denied the allegations saying the entire suit filed by the plaintiff was bad in law and fundamentally defective.
Marwa said that Moraa was a stranger to him and he is not conversant with the allegations filed in court. He said that while he was the Regional Commissioner, Coast Region until 2018 he dealt with several members of the public and government officials and that such meetings were purely officials and did not engage with anyone he met or had any intimate relationship as alleged.”I am not aware of the allegations and I confirm that at no time have I ever financially, socially even psychologically supported neither the plaintiff nor the alleged child,” he said.
Kitale Senior Resident Magistrate Cherono Moureen Kesse order that both parties present themselves within 14 days for collection of samples for DNA at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.”Where the DNA samples shall be tested and report filed in court within one month from the date hereof,” she ordered.The matter will be mentioned on April 23, 2019.
