Duale wants EACC to probe claims of unqualified staff in ASAL counties

National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale now wants the Ethics and Anti-corruption commission EACC to investigate allegations that counties in the Arid and semi-arid regions are employing staff with fake academic certificates.

Duale named Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Isiolo, Samburu and Turkana as the most affected counties.

Speaking during the Pastoral Education and Career Fair held in Garissa, Dualle claimed most counties in the arid and semi-arid areas are surpassing those with genuine academic papers to employ bogus staff.

Forensic investigations over the alleged illegal employment at the Garissa County Government by the Ethics and Anti-corruption commission has in the meanwhile commenced.

At least 85 staff in the county are said to have been employed without following the right procedure.

Reports at the EACC and County circles indicate that officials are conducting forensic investigations over the alleged illegal employment at the Garissa County Government.

All directors, Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors have been directed to avail their academic certificates to the office of County Secretary Abdi Mohammed Sheikh with immediate effect.
