Imagine travelling in a matatu with bhang, and you cannot never see it! If it were not for the smell, then this harmful drug would have reached the final market. Perhaps some young man somewhere would be holding a roll of it. Thank God it was hijacked before reaching the destination. The sniffing power of Police! Lol!

Police officers manning a roadblock on the outskirts of Marsabit Town retrieved bhang worth Ksh200, 000 from the tyres of a moving vehicle on Thursday evening. The “pwagu alipata pwaguzi” But we! stuffing bhang in a matatu tyre is cunningness of the highest degree! How did they think that!

The vehicle, a Toyota Alphard of registration plate KBU 456C, was heading to Nairobi from Moyale.

Police say they could smell bhang after flagging down the vehicle, but they couldn’t exactly tell where the drug had been hidden.

The vehicle was driven to a nearby police station, where a thorough search yielded the shocking discovery of 5Kgs bhang stashed in two rear wheels of the vehicle.

The vehicle driver, Daniel Njuguna, owner, Boniface Muthee, a teacher at Gurumesa Academy in Moyale, and two other suspects were arrested.

They are expected to be arraigned on Friday, March 22.
