It is clear from the pictures, because they don’t lie, that President Uhuru Kenyatta and Namibian President Dr Hage Geingob have one unique relationship. Perhaps more than the Uhuruto relationship of matching ties.
Uhuru has twice referred to Geingob as “my friend and brother”. Check out his tweet today and the one he posted last year:
Just like Uhuru has been invited as guest of honour in the independent day celebration, the 2018 visit by President Geingob was also a guest of honour invitation to the 2018 Mashujaa Day Celebration.
Footage showing Geingob’s reception by Uhuru at State House was indeed a delightful expression of a friend and brother.
Far from it, Uhuru’s salutation to Geingob on the particular Mashujaa day was one very warm hug that he did not extend to any of the local political allies, yes Ruto included.
In his guest of honour speech at Bukhungu Stadium, Dr Geingob evoked crowd celebrations when he invited President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga to the podium to congratulate them for their then newfound unity. This as just a few weeks after the handshake.
“Indeed inclusivity spells harmony and exclusivity spells conflict. I am standing here as a proud African to have witnessed how my two brothers (Uhuru and Raila) here got together,” said Geingob.
Well, that said, perhaps KOT rage on why the president is busy making diplomatic rounds while Kenyans are dying of hunger is misplaced.
Perhaps this was Uhuru simply being a ‘friend and brother’.
