Well there is no road that is smooth forever and this affects not only human life but big and small businesses as well.
The big shoe company Bata’s managing Director Alberto Erico in personal relationship allegations has been accused of protecting an extortionist known only as Peter who works as a finished goods ware house foreman of the company.
Those in the know say that he has extorted cash from more than 20 people in the name of either getting them jobs or business as transport contractors.
Despite several reports being filed by the victims at Tigoni police station, the suspect still roams free.
“The reason for his freedom is his personal relationship with the managing director who protects him through the well connected Chief Security Officer Victor Mathenge,” says a source within the company.
As the three concentrate on extortion, the company is said to be performing dismally and on the verge of collapsing due to poor leadership. This has resulted to unprocedural laying off of several workers, silently.
“They are using all kinds of rubbish in their manufacturing set up in the name of savings since they cannot achieve targets sales. They are burning dusty coal in their inefficient boiler spreading this hazardous dust all over. NEMA officials are coerced to accept cooked reports,” adds our source.
Worse still, the chief finance officer is said to be ineffective in executing his duties, with suppliers going for months without payments.
Illegal Indian immigrants are said to be given jobs at the expense of Kenyans in the company
The allegations have been reported to the EACC,to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the National Environment Management Authority.
